National Day of Prayer 2023

Today is National Day of Prayer in America. The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held in the United States on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.

For me, today brings a little conviction because I do not pray for our country and leaders everyday like I should. When I watch the news, that should be my reminder to pray but honestly, most of the time I just complain. My husband and I love this country and want to do our part to make it better. We often pray about guidance for knowing our role in that. However, we need to pray for our leaders and citizens daily. I’m going to do better to make sure America is part of my daily prayers!

Starting with this prayer for America:

Dear God, we come to you today to ask for your guidance and protection over our country. We pray for wisdom and discernment for our leaders, that they may make just and righteous decisions. We pray for healing and unity among our people, that we may come together as one nation, under God. We ask for your blessings in America, that we may continue to be a beacon of hope and freedom for all. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
